Bea Hayes, Ph.d, LMHC

Licensed psychologist
Lic#025487-01, NY

I have worked as a Mental Health therapist for over 20 years, first licensed in Massachusetts in 2004. I obtained my NY licensure in 2005. Much of my experience has been in a community mental health agency setting, with a wide variety of client needs. I have served a diverse population and have grown to appreciate the humanity, vulnerability, and dignity of each person I have treated. My theoretical orientation is strongly influenced by object relations, but I have training in various other modalities, and utilize what best fits the needs of the person and situation in whatever stage of growth they may be. I have a master’s degree in art therapy and mental health counseling from Springfield College, as well as a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Fielding Graduate University, where I also obtained my PhD in Psychology with an emphasis in Clinical Psychology.

From the time that I entered the field of mental health I have worked in agencies serving the needs of families and children, whether that was at community agencies or residential treatment centers for youth. My doctoral dissertation “Life Narratives of Vulnerable Adolescents” examined the very personal experiences of youth with helping professionals, and the benefits or harm of such. I continually seek training and further opportunities to broaden my scope of treatment approaches and remain committed to the path of learning to improve my skills in each clinical and life endeavor.
